Group Assigments for Wednesday, December 12

December 12th, 2007 by admin

Here are your team assignments for today.

I have found some of the photos you requested on Monday, and I’ve copied them to my flash drive. You’ll need to copy the folder of photos onto a computer, look through them and see which photos you like, and then upload them to your pages in the site.

Assignment 2: Wireframe Template

November 14th, 2007 by admin

The assignment for today (Wednesday, November 14) is to take the hand-drawn wireframe we did on Monday, November 12, and turn it into an electronic file using PowerPoint.

The wireframe template you create should include all the basic elements shown in the hand-drawn wireframe, and should also show your color choices. Hint: you may want to refer back to the HTML/CSS color choices documents you created for ideas!

You may want to refer to the site map for the navigation items.

Here’s the hand-drawn wireframe again:

update: HTML, CSS, site map, and wireframes!

November 14th, 2007 by admin

The Middle School Web Design class has been working hard on the new Honey Creek site these last weeks. We haven’t been posting to the blog much, so this will be a good update.

In the past 4 weeks, we finalized the site map, worked on learning HTML and CSS, and started work on the wireframes for the site. Wireframes are an information architecture tool that gives us a blueprint showing what goes on each page.

During the session on Monday, November 12, each of the 5 design teams presented a hand-drawn wireframe for the section assigned to them. We then collaboratively drew up a wireframe, using the whiteboard, that attempted to capture the best ideas of the group. Here it is:

Today we had a talk about desighning our new school web sight. We also were planning on creating our sight map. Its also talked about how and were things would be on the web sight. We were deciding on if it’s top or second leavle. In other words there would be a top leavle and a secon leavle. The top leavle would be like a home page and were thinking about puting important things on that page. The second leavle would be like the second page with the next more important things on it. We also went over some of the thigs that we went over in the past just to bring some details back about what were going to do on the web site.

Hello,

Wednesday September 26, 2007

Today is the makeup day for the people who did not get there stake holders homework in Monday and completed it got to share their results of their stack holders. After that we looked at other school sites to get an idea for what we want for our honey creek website. We also talked about the things that were useful on the site such as a calendar that shows school events, breaks, No school days and other helpful stuff.

Day 3 Wrap-up: Stakeholder Interveiws

September 24th, 2007 by admin

Hi everyone,we’re just back from camp! Today we found out that the main reason people on a returning yr.(s) to school don’t go on the site is they don’t have a reason to go on the site.  People at other schools check what their hw is for that night on their teachers page, so should we.  We also found out that new people (such as myself) don’t know about the site or don’t see why or how it would help them.

Today was a day to help ourselves understand how our stakeholder interviews will help us in the big picture. Now we understand that that’s how we will be able to know what to put on the new site.  Like we knew the URL was too long, so we made it shorter and simpler.

A disscussion we had was also about possible questions to ask our new friends such as you parents, students and teachers for our stakeholder interveiws. And a few people showed us questions that they asked, and we disscussed what to do in a chance of the answeres all being ‘NO’.

Today was also the day that Bill told us about this blog and what we may do on this site. Such as possible links for students to post apporprite things on!(What a cool idea Willa’s dad!!!!)

Have a good night, over and out!

Assignment 1: Stakeholder Interviews (DUE 9/24/07)

September 12th, 2007 by admin

Due Date: Monday, September 24, 2:30PM

GENERAL INFORMATION
You and a partner have been assigned a group of stakeholders to interview. Your job is to get their ideas, suggestions, and direction for the new Honey Creek website that we’re building.

HOW TO CONTACT YOUR STAKEHOLDER(s)
It’s good to ask for your stakeholder interview in a short face-to-face conversation. Once you and your stakeholder have agreed on a day and time, the stakeholder interviews can be conducted by e-mail, by phone, or in person. Please make sure your stakeholder(s) know how much time you will need to conduct the interview. You should allow AT LEAST thirty minutes, and may want to allow for an hour.

WHEN RESULTS ARE DUE:
Results of your stakeholder interview are due Monday, September 24 at the start of the Web Design class (2:30PM). That gives you 12 days to contact your stakeholder(s), interview them, and type up the results.

HOW TO TURN IN YOUR INTERVIEW:
Interviews should be turned in as computer printed, typed-up documents. If you do not have access to a computer at home, please come and talk to me as soon as possible so we can make arrangements for you to work on this during school hours.

THINGS TO REMEMBER:
1. Camp Tamarack is next week. You have 2 days left this week (Thursday and Friday), then all next week. Even though you are going to be at camp, you may be able to work on it, since many of our stakeholder groups will be attending camp (students, teacher, etc).

2. You and your partner are both responsible for making sure the interview happens and gets typed up by the date it’s due. You will need to communicate with your partner to figure out how to divide the assignment. Exchanging e-mail addresses and phone numbers is a good idea!
