Board News: October 2012

The Honey Creek Community School Board Of Trustees met September 25, 2012
-The Fund Development Committee has submitted for 501c3 status which will provide the school with greater fund raising capabilities. After a short hiatus, the committee will begin active meetings in October with regular meetings planned for the third Wednesday of  each month at 4:30.
-The Outreach Committee is now chaired by Nina Nabors who reports the committee will work on creating an ongoing process for  website maintenance. They are also helping coordinate Coffee with the Director sessions as well as working on outreach within the school and local communities and evaluation of the effectiveness of Honey Bunches of Notes as the primary means of communication. As part of the Strategic Plan, Nina is also working with Al and Shellee to document Honey Creeks Story. The committee will meet the third Friday of each month at 8:15 am.
-The board unanimously agreed to provide additional funding to help offset the cost of the staffs health care benefits.

-Al reported the School Improvement Plan was amended to reflect the changes enacted as a result of the HCCS being identified as a Focus School, in that the additional support will be offered during the school day and not after school.

-Sally Kropp was welcomed as the new faculty liaison

-The next board meeting will be held October 24, 2012 at 5:30 in the High Point Reception room (i.e. the pit). This is an open meeting and community attendance is welcomed and encouraged.
