Middle School Social Studies is taught by Joe Griffith. Joe loves blueberry yogurt and his classroom is home to a pair of excitable degus.

Social Studies News:

The microeconomics unit is well underway.  Students are spending the first half of the unit learning about concepts, such as scarcity, opportunity costs, competition, and supply and demand.  During the second half of the unit, they will apply their understanding of these concepts and create a small business (hence the unit name Little Entrepreneurs).  They will create, market and “sell” (barter) their chosen product at a huge bonanza in the gym.  All proceeds, which will be in the form of items needed at the local homeless shelters, will be donated at the end of the unit.  The students who receive the most items will join Joe at the Delonis Center to present the donations, and he will take them out for dinner afterwards, as well.
The last unit of the year will be on macroeconomics and will begin sometime in April.
