Field trips are an integral component of the Honey Creek experience. These experiences serve to build community , develop relationships between faculty and students, and support the project-themed curriculum. Each class typically participates in two-three field trips per year. Examples of field trips include the Ann Arbor library to support learning research skills, Leslie Science Center to support the science curriculum, and Tantre’ Farms as an example of the theme “how systems work”. Every spring Honey Creek 5th graders attend Camp Tamarack, which serves as a celebration for finishing elementary school. In addition, all Middle Schoolers attend Camp Tamarack at the beginning of each school year. Through team-building activities, Camp Tamarack further develops community, enhances the relationships between students, faculty, and parents, and supports self growth and confidence.
